Useful signals
- SOS, the distress signal, is sent as one run with no gaps:
...---.... Written as separate letters it reads ... --- ....
- Prosigns are sent as one unit:
AR (end of message) is .-.-. and K (go ahead) is -.-.
- Tip for memory. The most frequent letters have the shortest codes:
E is one dot and T one dash.
- Text format. In plain text, letters are separated by a space and words by
/, so HELLO WORLD is .... . .-.. .-.. --- / .-- --- .-. .-.. -...
