From HTML to Markdown
Markdown is a plain-text format that reads well as-is and converts back to HTML, which is why README files, documentation sites, static-site generators and many note apps use it. Converting existing HTML saves retyping when you move content from a CMS, a web page or a rich-text email into a Markdown workflow. The converter uses turndown, a widely used open-source library.
Markdown cannot express everything HTML can: colours, fonts, merged table cells and most layout are dropped, and complex tables may need tidying by hand. Inline HTML that has no Markdown equivalent is converted to plain text. Check the output, especially for nested lists and tables, before publishing.
