Pool volume

Pool volume is the amount of water a pool holds, found from its dimensions and average depth; one cubic foot holds about 7.48 US gallons.

A 20 × 10 ft rectangle with an average depth of 5 ft is 1,000 ft³, or 7,480 gallons. Knowing the volume tells you how much chemical to add and how long a pump takes to turn the water over.
