Sunrise and sunset

Sunrise and sunset are the times the top edge of the Sun crosses the horizon, which depend on date and latitude.

Day length changes most through the year at high latitudes, while near the equator it stays close to 12 hours. Twilight lasts until the Sun is about 6° (civil), 12° (nautical) or 18° (astronomical) below the horizon.
