YAML is a human-friendly data format that uses indentation instead of brackets, popular for configuration files.

YAML can express everything JSON can (JSON is nearly a subset) and also allows comments, which makes it popular for CI pipelines, Kubernetes and static-site settings. Indentation must use spaces, never tabs, and a wrong indent changes the meaning silently.
