CSV and Spreadsheets
CSV is the universal format for moving tabular data between programs, databases and scripts, but it holds only one sheet of plain values: formulas become their results, and formatting, charts and merged cells are lost. Tick "values as displayed" to export what you see in the spreadsheet (rounded numbers, formatted dates); untick it for raw numbers. JSON output uses the first row as property names.
Downloaded CSV files start with a UTF-8 byte order mark so Excel shows accented characters correctly when you open them again. European versions of Excel often expect semicolons instead of commas, so pick the semicolon format if a comma CSV opens in a single column. Spreadsheets are parsed with the open-source SheetJS library; password-protected workbooks are not supported.
Key Takeaways
- One sheet per CSV: Choose each sheet in turn to export them all.
- Semicolons for Europe: Use the semicolon format for European Excel.
- Values, not formulas: Formulas are exported as their calculated results.
