Sort Lines Online - Alphabetical, Numeric & Natural Order
Sort Lines
Sort any list alphabetically, numerically, naturally or by length
Eight Sort Orders
Alphabetical, reverse, natural, numeric (both directions), by length (both directions), or simply reverse the current order.
Natural Order
Natural sort reads digit runs as numbers, so file2 lands before file10 instead of after it.
Accent-Aware
Sorting follows your browser's locale rules, so accented letters such as é or ñ sort next to their base letter instead of after z.
Full Privacy
Everything runs locally in your browser. Your list is never uploaded or stored.
When to Sort Lines
Sorted lists are easier to scan, compare and de-duplicate. Typical jobs include tidying a keyword or URL list, ordering names, alphabetising a bibliography, putting import statements or CSS properties in a stable order, or preparing two lists so a diff shows only real changes.
For numeric sorting the tool reads the number at the start of each line (commas are ignored), so 1,200 apples sorts as 1200. Lines with no leading number are placed at the end. Equal lines always keep their original relative order.
Key Takeaways
- Stable: Lines that compare equal never swap places.
- Flexible: Trim whitespace and drop blank lines in the same pass.
- Instant: Changing an option re-sorts your list immediately.
