See What Is Hidden

Each photo is inspected first: camera make and model, date taken, GPS coordinates, serial numbers, thumbnails, XMP and comments.

No Quality Loss

JPEG, PNG and WebP files are cleaned by cutting out the metadata blocks only, so the pixels are not decoded or recompressed.

Many Files at Once

Drop a whole folder of photos and download each cleaned file, or all of them together as one ZIP.

Private by Design

Your photos never leave your device. Everything happens in your browser, and each result is checked again to confirm the metadata is gone.

What Your Photos Give Away

Most phones and cameras write a block of EXIF metadata into every picture. It can contain the exact GPS coordinates where you stood, the date and time, the make, model and serial number of the device, and sometimes the name of the editing software or the owner. Sharing the original file on a forum, marketplace or blog can tell a stranger where you live or where your child goes to school. Many social networks strip this data when you upload, but email, messaging apps set to send "original" files, and your own website often do not.

The safest method here removes only the metadata blocks and copies everything else byte for byte, so the image is identical and the file gets slightly smaller. One detail matters: the EXIF block also stores the rotation of photos taken with the phone held sideways. The tool keeps just that one value by default so pictures do not turn on their side; untick the option if you want no EXIF at all. Colour profiles are removed too unless you choose to keep them, which can make colours look slightly different on wide-gamut photos. Other formats, or the re-encode option, are cleaned by redrawing the picture, which is lossy for JPEG.

Key Takeaways

  • Formats: JPEG, PNG and WebP are cleaned losslessly; GIF, BMP, AVIF and HEIC are re-encoded.
  • Verified: Each cleaned file is scanned again, and the tool says so if any metadata is left.
