Mean arterial pressure (MAP)

Mean arterial pressure is the average blood pressure during one heartbeat cycle, `diastolic + (systolic − diastolic) / 3`.

For 120/80 mmHg the MAP is 93.3 mmHg. A MAP of about 70 to 100 is generally considered adequate to supply organs with blood; clinicians interpret it in context.
