Numbers, Labels and Watermarks
The number style is a template: {n} becomes the page's number and {total} the last number in the document, so "Page {n} of {total}" gives "Page 3 of 10" on the third page of a ten-page file. Numbering counts from the first page even when you skip it or limit the pages, so a cover page can stay blank and the next page still reads 2. Use "First number" to continue the numbering of an earlier part.
Text is drawn in the built-in Helvetica font, which covers Western European letters, digits and common punctuation; other alphabets are not supported. The watermark is drawn on top of the page content, so keep it faint for pages you need to read. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
Key Takeaways
- Skip the cover: The next page still shows 2.
- Keep watermarks faint: Strong ones can hide text underneath.
- Western characters only: Built-in fonts cannot draw other alphabets.
