Dead pixel

A dead pixel is a screen pixel that stays permanently dark, while a stuck pixel is locked on one colour.

Cycling a screen through full-colour fields (black, white, red, green, blue) makes defective pixels easy to spot. Stuck pixels can sometimes be revived by rapid colour flashing; dead ones are hardware faults, and warranties often allow a small number.
