If the Camera Does Not Work
If the browser asks, choose Allow. If you blocked it earlier, click the camera or lock icon in the address bar to change the permission. "In use" errors mean another app such as Zoom, Teams or the system camera app is holding the camera; close it and try again. On laptops, check for a privacy shutter or a function key that disables the camera, and on macOS allow the browser in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.
The requested resolution is only a wish: the camera picks the closest mode it supports, so a "1080p" request may give 1280 × 720 on a basic webcam. Frame rate often drops in low light because the camera lengthens its exposure; more light usually brings it back to 30 fps.
Key Takeaways
- Allow access: Use the address-bar icon to change a blocked permission.
- One app at a time: Close other apps that use the camera.
- Light helps: Better lighting improves both image and frame rate.
