Online Metronome - Accurate Click Track with Tap Tempo and Subdivisions
Metronome
A steady beat from 20 to 300 BPM, right in your browser
Rock-Steady Timing
Clicks are scheduled on the audio clock ahead of time, so they do not drift when the page is busy.
Tap Tempo
Tap along with a song to find its BPM.
Meters and Subdivisions
From 1 to 12 beats per bar, with eighth notes, triplets or sixteenths and an accented downbeat.
Works Offline
Once the page has loaded, the metronome runs entirely in your browser.
Practising with a Metronome
Start slowly enough to play a passage cleanly, then raise the tempo a few BPM at a time. Subdivisions help with rhythmic precision: hearing every eighth note or triplet keeps you from rushing. Try counting the click as beats 2 and 4 to practise a swing or backbeat feel. Tempo names are traditional ranges, for example Andante about 76-108 BPM and Allegro about 120-168 BPM.
Browsers only allow sound after you interact with the page, so the first click of Start also unlocks audio. Keep the tab visible if you can: browsers slow down timers in background tabs, and although clicks are scheduled ahead, very long pauses in a hidden tab can still cause gaps.
Key Takeaways
- Slow first: Speed comes from clean, accurate repetition.
- Use subdivisions: Hearing the in-between notes stops rushing.
- Tap to find a tempo: Eight taps give a reliable BPM.
